How Often Should My Heat Pump Be Maintained?
We advise scheduling a pro at least twice annually—once in the fall and once in the spring. When temperatures begin to get warmer or colder, it’s the perfect time for heating and cooling service.
Your unit operates all year to keep you comfortable. All of that work can cause stress or even a breakdown, especially if you don’t do maintenance.
Heat Pump Tune-Up Checklist
You already understand maintenance is essential for an efficient, reliable heat pump. But what can you do to prepare for your regular maintenance? Here are some DIY tasks to finish before your ACE Solutions professional visits:
- Check your outdoor unit. Your heat pump needs to be kept unobstructed year-round to keep your home comfortable. Be sure there’s no debris on or near your equipment. You’ll need about two feet free surrounding your system in every direction.
- Tidy up your unit. Ensure your outside unit is clean. If you see dirt buildup, shut it off and gently clean it with a decreased pressure hose. Get rid of dirt indoors your home by dusting your vents.
- Periodically replace your your air filter. Your air filter keeps your air healthy and your heat pump operating well. Make sure to change it every few months.
